Los Corocitos Water Project

Case study

Existing conditions and problems facing the community

Los Corocitos is a farming village northeast of Las Matas de Farfan (Province of San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican Republic). During previous years people of the community have partially constructed sections of a water system, including limited private taps and water distribution lines. However, they currently lack the essential well source and water storage tan

ADrill a well and install a powerful submersible pump at the water source

Build a 12,000 gallon storage tank

Connect the existing sections of pipe to a new main “trunk line” that will connect to existing distribution lines and private taps at homes throughout the community.

Allow the community to invest through their own labor and efforts- the “community in-kind” contribution is approx. $19,000

Hygiene workshops will be conducted to improve health and wellbeing of the community
